Conductive Keratoplasty (CK)
Conductive keratoplasty is a procedure to help patients who have difficulty seeing at near. It involves the application of radiofrequency spots in a particular pattern to change the corneal shape. The change in corneal shape improves the ability to see objects at near.
CK does affect the distance vision to a degree, but not in the same proportion that it generally improves near vision. LASIK can also improve near vision, but there tends to be more of a reduction in distance vision.
Before having CK, patients should undergo a simulation with contact lenses to make sure it is appropriate to have the procedure done.
